100 Years of Legacy:La opinion

For a century, La Opinión has been more than a newspaper. It has been a trusted voice for Los Angeles' Latino community, documenting our history, advocating for representation, and telling stories that reflect the experiences, struggles, and triumphs of generations of Angelenos.

To commemorate this milestone, La Opinión launched “Somos L.A.,” a special editorial initiative that reimagines the traditional opinion column by placing the voices of everyday Angelenos at the center of the conversation. The project celebrates the people whose lived experiences, contributions, and perspectives have shaped the cultural fabric of Los Angeles.

Being selected to share my perspective as part of this centennial celebration was especially significant because my own journey has been shaped by this city, its communities, and the power of storytelling.

Throughout my career in journalism, public service, and strategic communications, I have believed that representation matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and storytelling has the power to connect communities and inspire change.

I'm grateful to La Opinión for including my voice in this historic milestone and for continuing to champion the stories that make Los Angeles extraordinary.

One hundred years of history. Countless voices. One remarkable city.

Somos L.A.
